Motorcyclists and researchers may seem like an unusual pairing to some, but the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Ride for Kids® program has a beautiful partnership with the scientific community.
“We have not gone from cause to cure yet, but all the donations [motorcyclists] bring in are getting us closer,” Dr. Michael Etzl of Phoenix Children’’s Hospital told riders in Phoenix last fall.
Those donations totaled $4.4 million in 2009 with Ride for Kids® events in 39 cities. This year we’ll expand to 40 markets with a new ride in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In addition to raising funds for research and family support, Ride for Kids® also raises awareness about childhood brain tumors. As the nation’s premier charity motorcycle ride, it receives major backing from the American Honda Motor Company, Cycle World magazine, the Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows, AGV Helmets, Dunlop Tires, and Tourmaster Luggage. These partnerships foster goodwill with the motorcycling community and increase our visibility worldwide.
Whether you’r a rider, a patient family, a researcher or someone who just wants to help out, we invite you to join us at a Ride for Kids® event in 2010. Go to www.rideforkids.org or call 800-253-6530 to learn more.
